Location and Daily Life in Whetstone
Whetstone sits in one of the most convenient pockets of east Brentwood, just off Edmondson Pike with direct access to I-65 via Concord Road. For daily errands, you’re minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, and services along Edmondson Pike and Franklin Road.
The community entrance off Green Hill Boulevard makes a strong first impression. The school sits just outside the neighborhood, and many families walk or bike during the school year. Crockett Park, one of Brentwood’s premier public parks with sports fields, walking trails, an indoor arena, and seasonal events, is a short drive away on Concord Road.

The Homes
Pulte Homes developed the primary Whetstone community starting in 2008, building approximately 141 all-brick homes across six phases. The original Pulte section features four flexible floor plans ranging from approximately 3,200 to 3,900 square feet, with 4 to 5 bedrooms and 2.5 to 4.5 bathrooms. Many homes include optional basements depending on the lot. Pulte’s standard features at the time of construction included gourmet kitchens with granite countertops, GE Profile appliance packages, hardwood flooring in main living areas, nine-foot smooth-finished ceilings, and ceramic tile in all bathrooms.
Drees Homes built the Halcyon Estates section within Whetstone, which features larger estate-style homes on lots ranging up to over an acre. These homes tend to be 4,700 to 5,500+ square feet and command higher price points due to the additional square footage and lot size. This section sits along Harrogate Drive and Placid Court, offering extra privacy and a more estate-like feel.
Across the entire community, lots range from approximately 0.45 acres to over 1.1 acres. The later phases (Phase 6 along Green Hill Boulevard) were built between 2015 and 2016, featuring some of the largest homes in the community at 5,300 to 6,600+ square feet. Architectural styles are predominantly traditional, with some contemporary elements appearing in the later phases. All-brick and brick-with-stone exteriors are standard throughout.
Many homeowners have made significant upgrades since original construction, including Trex decking, updated kitchen backsplashes, built-in closet systems, new roofing, and enhanced landscaping for privacy.

Amenities
Whetstone prioritizes a well-maintained streetscape and natural spaces over resort-style amenities. The community features walking trails that wind through green spaces and connect different phases of the neighborhood. Iron fence-lined sidewalks throughout the community create a polished, established look and make walking the neighborhood a pleasant experience year-round.
Common green spaces are maintained by the HOA and provide areas for casual recreation. Several homes, particularly in the Halcyon Estates section and Phase 3, back to wooded common areas that create a buffer of privacy unusual for a community this close to major roads.
Whetstone does not have a community pool or clubhouse. The HOA fees cover grounds maintenance for common areas, walking trails, monument upkeep, and landscaping at entrances. This keeps monthly dues in the $85 to $105 range, which is notably lower than many Brentwood communities in this price range where pool and clubhouse maintenance can push HOA fees significantly higher.
For recreation beyond the neighborhood, Crockett Park is the go-to destination. The park features an indoor sports arena, outdoor athletic fields, a playground, and an extensive trail system. The Brentwood YMCA and multiple golf courses, including the private Brentwood Country Club, are all within a short drive.
